Seeds were maybe too late…

STeve @ 1:56 pm

The flower seeds that I sowed late and didn’t really know if it was a bit too late have shown that actualy I think it was a bit too late!  Between the heat, lack of water, and the cats, a lot have not really made it.   They all came up but the cats decided it looked like a good toilet and so we lost loads.   The ones that have made it have come up but are small and their flowers are coming out and so I looks like that is as large as they are going to go.

But no worries.

Seeds in the Back

STeve @ 9:39 pm

We are starting to get a nice display of ‘flowers for wildlife’ at the back.  The seeds we sowed ages ago are now mini flowers starting to flower, while the seeds we sowed a little bit late at the beginning of the month are going well.

The photo does not do it any justice, but here we have the seeds that I sowed the other day, the “Last Sowing of the Year” - they are starting to pop up.

Last Seeds of the Year

STeve @ 9:28 pm

Only just in time, we shall see what happens.   I have put netting in top to stop the cat digging.  See how things are in 30 days or so….

More Seeds - Too Late?

STeve @ 10:07 pm

It is beginning of June, I am leaving it all a bit late if I want to sow any more flower seeds, but I thought I would have a go anyway.  It is only just June after all….   This is all for one of the beds in the back garden which I was going to leave bare all summer but thought actually there is no excuse for such lazyness and so off I went.

I have plants of different heights, including Canterbury Bell, Larkspur, Chrysanthemum, Viscaria, and Candytuft.   This should all bring us a nice cottage garden feel.  Tonight I prepared the bed, tomorrow night I will sow some seeds…

@Seven Weeks - Wildflower seed

STeve @ 1:16 pm

T&J ‘helped’ to sow these seeds and it has been hard to work out in the past if anything came of them, as little plants sometimes do look like little weeds!  But… I think it is now clear to see that it was a success and we watch and wait…

Seeds from Ebay

STeve @ 8:48 pm

I thought I would give it a try, I had a small list of plants that I would like to try in the garden and so had a quick search on Ebay.   I found a seller who for 99p sold seeds and combined the postage too at just 85p for as many orders as you liked.

We have Red Amaranthus, Italian White Sunflowers, Poached Egg Plant, and Velvet Queen Sunflowers.   The sunflowers are the ones I really wanted, these are both quite small ones and will give a white head, and a dark red head (hence their names).

Planting in seed trays sometime over the weekend.
